We’re excited to announce this year’s Roadshows, open to anyone interested in entering a Northern Writers’ Award, or looking to learn more about writing and opportunities in the North. This year, we’re running themed panel events, held digitally via Zoom Webinar.
Wednesday 2 February, 6pm-7.30pm
This Roadshow will offer advice, and reflect on experiences of approaching writing, publishing and submitting for prizes as a disabled writer. The speakers will draw on their own experiences as disabled writers, publishers and award-winners to unpack some of the distinctive barriers to publishing disabled writers can face, and how access needs can be met.
The session is programmed and chaired by the writer Polly Atkin. Expert speakers include Pragya Agarwal, Hannah Hodgson, Cat Mitchell and Victoria Bennett.
More info on speakers to come.
This event will be hosted on Zoom. Attendees will not have their camera or microphone on but there will be the opportunity to ask the panelists questions should you want to. The session will also be recorded and available afterwards on our YouTube channel.
The Northern Writers’ Awards are produced by New Writing North with support from Northumbria University, Arts Council England and a range of industry partners. The awards support work-in-progress by writers based in the North of England.
